Learning in the local community

Course modified date: 23 Jun 2022

In this course learn about how local places in the community, such as a swimming pool and library, can help develop a childs learning.

Introdcution

The local community is a group of people that live in the same place and includes businesses and other facilities, for example, parks, gardens, allotments, playgrounds, etc., within the area.

Children’s learning and development can be supported through activities within the local community.

These activities give children an opportunity to try out new things, play with new toys, discover new places and gain new experiences. Through these activities, children make friends and feel like they are part of a wider community.

Meeting people and other children within the local community is very important for children but also for the adults that take care of them.

 You will learn
  1. Understand what the local community is
  2. List places in the local community that support childrens leaning
  3. Identify how children learn in the swimming pool, sports centre library, parent and toddler groups and museums.
