Parts of Speech

In this course You will learn about parts of speech. This course is ideal for intermediate learners.

Introduction

The ‘parts of speech’ are the building blocks of what we speak, hear and read every day.  They act like components of a car engine.  If one is faulty, the engine doesn’t work.  Language works like that too.

We learn the parts of speech and most rules of grammar naturally when we are very young, without thinking.  However, it is very easy to make mistakes with them, especially because there can be a big difference between spoken and written English!

In order to recap on these grammar terms, we need to remind ourselves of what a sentence is, and build the ‘engine’ from scratch.
